Student Travel Grant Application

GENSIPS 2013 has several travel grants sponsored by National Science Foundation for graduate students who are first authors of accepted papers to attend the workshop. Applicants are asked to submit an application package to be considered for these travel grants. A committee consisting of the members of the GENSIPS organizing committee will evaluate the applications and select the travel grant recipients.

Here is a list of criteria that will be considered in the selection process:

  • Novelty, significance, and quality of research summarized in the student abstract.
  • Special consideration will be given to doctoral students who are first authors of full papers accepted for presentation at GENSIPS.
  • Special consideration will be given to women and underrepresented minorities.
All travel grant awardees will be required to register for the conference.

Application Process: The following will be requested as part of the application

  • Applicant's curriculum vita.
  • Applicant's research statement. This will include
    • Brief description of the research to be presented at the conference and its significance
    • Potential impact of attending GENSIPS on Applicant's research
  • Support letter from the applicant's adviser/mentor confirming the eligibility of the applicant and availability of funds from other sources to cover any remaining cost.

Applications should be submitted to hvikalo@ece.utexas.edu and ulisses@ece.tamu.edu with a subject heading: GENSIPS 2013 Travel Grant. All of the above information should be in a single pdf file called FirstnameLastname.pdf. Completed applications from the students must be received through email by October 7, 2013 to ensure full consideration.
